European Youth and human rights: the use of common goods around the world
Dal 30 giugno al 13 luglio 2007, presso La Cittā dell'Utopia, a Roma, lo SCI ha organizzato uno scambio internazionale sulla relazione tra diritti umani e utilizzo di beni comuni, ed in particolare dell'acqua, nel mondo.
Seminari, tavole rotonde, momenti di confronto tra esperienze locali ed internazionale, si sono intreccerato con visite, dinamiche di gruppo e prati pratiche d'azione.
Allo scambio hanno partecipato giovani provenienti da Catalogna, Germania, Italia e Romania.
Di seguito un articolo realizzato da parte dei volontari dello scambio che presenta il lavoro e lo che hanno realizzato per il Casale Garibaldi e il suo giardino.
" You use a lot of water for drinking, cooking, taking a shower, flushing the toilet and cleaning dishes. Thatīs why the SCI-volunteers were thinking of a watering system without wasting that much water.
On Saturday morning we started our first round with lovely Italian gardeners and engineers. Firstly we started digging holes surrounding all the land. Later on we measured the distance for the needed cable. Actually all this work took a long time in the morning and the hot sun made us sweating a lot so we had short breaks to drink some water and put huge amounts of sun-cream and our skins.
After having lunch we cut the cable to fit into the holes. Furthermore we did connect them with taps all together. And finally we made small holes in the cables to finish the drop by drop system. Being exhausted and tired, Mario proudly switched on the water to check if everything was right working how it was imaged. Successfully everyone had done a great job.
The last task for us in the gardens was on Monday morning when we checked if everything was well done. Besides doing some personal work like bringing our rubbish to the rubbish containers we finished the working project by taking pictures of the whole process! "
